Raised as a Texas girl, I found myself married and working in the corporate world of New York City. From the outside it would seem like a life to envy, but inwardly I was fighting for joy. Life felt chaotic and overwhelming. Raising a family in the midst of unknowns was just what God used to usher me into trusting His purposes for my life over my own performance.
While at the time I felt my days didn’t matter, I now realize that I was viewing my life through the lens of expectation rather than in light of eternity. As I chose to embrace the story God was writing with my life, my heart stopped the tireless cycle of performance. Even now, God continues to remind me that nothing else compares to a life of deep and lasting purpose.
